Week of 10/16: Walking from the five and heavy metal!

Hey everyone,

It's been a few weeks since the last news posting - I've been neck deep in preparing for lots of upcoming additions to the website, some small new features, but most importantly preparing for the handful of guest instructors I've confirmed! EXCITING stuff, so please stay tuned in the coming months!

Our "Member of the Week" is Brent Nolen from Myrtle Beach, SC!

If you haven't checked out the most recent lesson on composing pieces for solo bass, dive into that one, as it clocks in at just under 30 minutes! Lots of discussion on choosing chords, borrowing chords from other keys, and many general tips on songwriting even outside of solo bass music.

In this week's lesson, I'll be highlighting one of the first bass fills I learned, which is today still one of the most effective fills I use within common chord progressions. Following this lesson will be an intermediate lesson offering tips on how to adjust your tone and technique to work in a heavy metal setting and mix.

The forum is really growing, so join us there and I'll be checking your posts. See you soon!
